"Why dress them like convicts and
grade them like eggs?"
Congratulations to those who’ve realised that school isn’t normal!
For most of human history, children have had a natural place in home and community, with school for the lucky or unlucky few.
Some children thrive in the school environment; others lose their self-esteem and their natural zest for learning and life. During 30 years as a primary teacher, teacher trainer and children's author I've seen what can happen, both for good and for bad.
Turning things upside down and rousing creative minds is the challenge facing all teachers and parents! This illustration from my fantasy The Gibleteers seems to sum it up nicely!
I've tried to meet this challenge in schools and I've tried to meet it as a homeschooling grandad.
Home ed for one, school for the other, and both these girls have plenty of creative flair and social skills. There's no one way!
Families who think homeschooling offers the happier journey won't be short of support. There are like-minded people everywhere!
Outside tuition can sometimes be useful, and my wife and I teach English and music. Youngsters enjoy a fun approach and 100% exam success.*
We also offer free advice about home education, with a special welcome for people in Norfolk who are starting home ed - or wondering whether to take the plunge! Please drop us a line or give us a ring!

Homeschooling brings a breath of fresh air!
